Ocular prostheses

Coverage

A medical prescription is necessary for the first ocular prosthesis, but it is not required for its renewal.

The renewal period is 12 months for glass ocular prostheses and 36 months for plastic ocular prostheses.

This renewal period does not apply to children under the age of 14 years when the medical prescription justifies the coverage as a result of their growth.

Furthermore, the period may be reduced on the basis of a justified medical prescription for persons who have undergone a recent enucleation (3 to 6 months) or in case of intercurrent complications.

Payment method

In general, the insured person pays the invoice directly and requests reimbursement from his competent health insurance fund.

In general, the insured must send the original, duly paid and receipted invoices along with the original prescription (if necessary) to his competent fund. The 13-digit national identification number must be indicated. If this is the first request for reimbursement, a bank account number (RIB) must be enclosed. For submissions to the CNS from Luxembourg, the insured does not need to apply a stamp to the envelope.
