All I need to know about the CNS
What is the CNS and what is its role in the Luxembourg healthcare system?
The CNS manages two branches of social security in Luxembourg: sickness and maternity insurance (assurance maladie-maternité-AMM) and long-term care insurance (assurance dépendance-AD).
The CNS is responsible for all insured persons in the private sector (employees and the self-employed) as well as government workers.
The CNS has a variety of missions:
- The CNS covers health care and preventive medicine, as well as assistance and care required by a dependent person at home or in an institution.
- It also pays financial benefits for sickness and maternity.
- The CNS monitors the conformity and quality of the services provided and actively informs insured persons, care providers and employers.
- It also contributes to the management and organisation of the Luxembourg health system by working with the various actors in the health sector and by participating in the definition and implementation of the country's public health policies.
The specific tasks of the CNS are defined in the Social Security Code.
What are the CNS's values and commitments to its insured?
The CNS has adopted values that guide it in the fulfilment of its missions.
- Responsibility: We demonstrate professionalism.
- Commitment: We take an interest in our work and are actively involved on a daily basis.
- Communication: We conduct a transparent and constructive dialogue with the aim of sharing established and correct knowledge and information.
- Quality: We deliver quality services that meet the needs and expectations of our insured and our internal and external partners. We are constantly developing our expertise.
- Service: We provide fast and effective solutions that are tailored to the needs and expectations of our insured and our internal and external partners.
How can I register with the CNS as an insured person?
If I work in Luxembourg, either for an employer or as a self-employed person, I must be affiliated to the Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale-CCSS).
This affiliation protects me against various social security risks, such as illness, maternity, work accidents, occupational diseases, old age, invalidity and dependency.
How can I contact the CNS if I need help or have questions?
- I can contact the CNS by telephone on (+352) 2757 - 1.
- I can contact the CNS by email using the online form.
- I can visit a CNS agency.
- I can send a letter to Caisse nationale de santé, L-2980 Luxembourg.
