How will my programme work?
The smoking cessation programme involves regular consultations with the doctor of my choice over a period of eight months.
This is an opportunity to assess my level of motivation, the strengths I can draw on and the difficulties I need to overcome. To compensate for the withdrawal symptoms, my doctor may prescribe medicine to help me quit and advise me on how best to use it.
What conditions must I meet to be eligible for the smoking cessation programme?
To be eligible for coverage under this programme, I must be insured with the National Health Fund or a competent public sector health insurance fund in Luxembourg.
During my first consultation with my GP, I sign an informed consent form to register for the smoking cessation programme.
How will my programme be covered?
Formalities for obtaining full reimbursement of my medical fees
- At the first consultation
To enable me to benefit from 100% coverage, my doctor must bill me using code E40.
I send the invoice to the CNS to obtain reimbursement.
- At the last consultation
In order to benefit from 100% coverage, during the consultation in the 8th month, my doctor must bill me using code E45, which is mandatory in order to claim my right to flat-rate reimbursement for medicines.
I send the doctor's invoice, together with the invoices for the medicines, if applicable, to the Health Department (Direction de la santé) for validation.
My file will then be forwarded to the CNS for reimbursement.
- Interim consultations are reimbursed as normal.
What is the coverage rate?
My medical consultations are covered at the normal reimbursement rate (88%).
The first consultation (E40) and the last consultation (E45) are covered in full (100%).
For withdrawal medicines, I will receive a reimbursement of 50% of the costs incurred, up to a limit of €100.
