Medical insurance for a pensioner

The medical coverage of a pensioner who wishes to spend his pension in another EU/EEA country or in Switzerland is based on a number of criteria:

• In addition to the Luxembourg pension, does the pensioner also receive a pension from another state?
• Does the state where the pensioner resides pay him a pension?
• Is the pensioner also working in his country of residence?

Four different situations

Given these different elements, four separate situations exist:

• A single pension from Luxembourg
• A single pension from Luxembourg and a professional activity in the state of residence
• A pension from the state of residence
• No pension from the state of residence and several pensions from other states
