Hours of authorised leave
During your incapacity for work, you must comply with certain rules about leaving home, i.e. temporarily leaving your home address or place of stay.
Good to know
If, during your sick leave, you are staying at an address other than your usual place of residence, you must state the exact address (place, street, number, floor, etc.) on your certificate of incapacity for work or inform the CNS (form "Address of stay during a sick leave").
Leaving home starting the 1st day of incapacity
From the 1st day of your incapacity, you may go out:
- for appointments with the Medical Board of Social Security or to obtain treatment, diagnostic services, medication or medical devices. You do not need to inform the CNS in advance, but you must be able to justify your absence in the event of a control.
- to have a meal. You must inform the CNS in advance using the form "Information about having a meal outside during an incapacity for work".
Leaving home starting the 6th day of incapacity
From the 6th day of your incapacity, if you are on sick leave for at least 5 consecutive calendar days, you may go out, if your doctor has authorised it on your certificate of incapacity:
- in the morning between 10am and midday, and
- in the afternoon between 2pm and 6pm.
Request for derogation from exit hours
If you are unable to work for more than 6 weeks in a row, you can ask the CNS in writing to lift certain restrictions on leaving home starting the 43rd day.
You can send your request to the CNS using the form "Applying for a derogation from exit hours".
Activities prohibited during your incapacity
During your sick leave, you are not allowed to:
- take part in sporting activities (unless medically indicated);
- engage in any activity that is incompatible with your state of health;
- go to a bar or restaurant, except to eat a meal from the 1st day of your incapacity for work and only if you inform the CNS in advance (form "Information about having a meal outside during an incapacity for work").
Administrative control from the CNS
The CNS carries out administrative controls to check that you are complying with the exit rules, i.e. to verify that you are at your home/place of residence. This is not a medical check: your state of health is NOT checked.
Administrative controls carried out by the CNS may take place at your home or at the address indicated as that of your stay between 8:00am and 09:00pm. This check may concern residents and non-residents and may take place from the 1st day of incapacity.
If you are absent, the CNS will leave a note of presence at the location where the control took place, and you must justify your absence within 3 working days of the control date.
