Procedure for allocating a service provider code

To work as a pharmacist in Luxembourg, I must obtain a license to practice issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Security.

In accordance with the laws governing the licensing of pharmacists with a pharmacy open to the public, the CNS allocates me a pharmacist code.

This means that the agreement between the CNS and the Luxembourg Pharmacists' Union (Syndicat des Pharmaciens luxembourgeois) applies to me if I run a pharmacy open to the public in Luxembourg.

Documents to be sent to the CNS

I am requesting my pharmacist code by submitting a complete application to the CNS, accompanied by the following supporting documents:

  • The ministerial authorization for the concession
  • The certificate of first operation of the concession issued by the Health Directorate (Direction de la santé), if a new concession is being created
  • The application for exemption from reduction in the event of the creation of a new concession
  • A copy of the identity card
  • A copy of the pharmacist's diploma
  • The name and contact details of the pharmacist's software publisher, who must be duly approved by the Agence eSanté
  • The date of commencement of activity
  • The bank account details
  • A copy of the act of transfer in the event of the takeover of a private concession
  • Certificate of participation in theoretical and practical training in “compression stockings”
  • The duly signed “mySecu Platform Services Framework Agreement”(contrat-cadre Services de la Plateforme mySecu)

Electronic data exchange

In certain agreements between the CNS and various healthcare professionals, the organization of the management, transmission, and storage of documents is provided for exclusively in digital and electronic form. These include agreements between the CNS and medical analysis and clinical biology laboratories, physical therapists, and dietitians. For healthcare professionals other than doctors and dentists, electronic data exchange is optional.

To participate in electronic data exchange, service providers must connect remotely to a secure area where they can deposit their request files and retrieve the response files deposited there by the CNS. To do this, service providers must:

  • Connect to the secure “HealthNet” network to access the CNS server
  • Be able to generate request files that comply with the specifications set out in the agreement and import the files returned by the CNS into their own database.

In order to ensure confidentiality and data protection, service providers must log in to HealthNet, a highly secure IT network provided by Agence eSanté. Service providers must then request a username and password to access the CNS server, which is also connected to HealthNet.
